CommuteInfo Commute Options Awareness Month
is a month long promotion and celebration of commuting alternatives in Southwestern Pennsylvania!
The CommuteInfo program is designed to increase the number of people who travel to work or school by riding transit, carpooling, vanpooling, or bikepooling. The goal is for commuters living, working or attending school within the 10-county Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission region (including Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, and Westmoreland counties) to choose ridesharing at least twice a week by providing them with viable options, incentives and encouragement. CommuteInfo is also an information clearinghouse and resource center for commuters and employers.
Throughout May there will be special events and activities planned to help promote alternative transportation options. The CommuteInfo program has also partnered with the Pittsburgh Pirates to Offer a “Triple Play”.
Learn more about the Triple Play offer by clicking here. Or check out the entire list of events for CommuteInfo month by clicking here.
In addition, a $25 credit toward a bus pass, vanpool fare or gas card (for carpoolers and/or bikepoolers) will be given to the 25th, 50th, 75th and 100th person to register with the program in May (which means completing a commuter profile). The already registered commuter who referred them will also get the same credit. The name of the person who made the referral must be included in the “other comments” section (in order to be eligible for the referral credit).
Also, if you know someone or one of your employees who might be looking for an alternative to driving alone, then tell them about CommuteInfo and this great promotion!

Commuting Options: Information & Resources

Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority Introduces Get IT FREE Transit Offer
Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority (MMVTA) is now offering a new program designed to help individuals who are currently unemployed or underemployed to better their position in today’s economy and workforce.
The “Get an INTERVIEW. Get a RIDE. Get the JOB. Get 10 trips on US” program allows qualified Valley residents to ride the bus anywhere in the MMVTA service area, including downtown Pittsburgh when traveling to a job interview.
“We have all been feeling the pain of today’s economic climate, and the MMVTA is committed to helping the communities and residents that it serves,” said MMVTA Executive Director Valerie Kissell.
“The people of the Valley are the true reason we are here, and the MMVTA feels that this undertaking will make it a bit easier to travel to possible places of employment.”
MMVTA will give those registering up to three complementary round trips for interview travel, and an extra bonus if an interview leads to a new job.
“If the job interview that our services got you to leads to employment, the MMVTA will sweeten the deal by providing you with a free book of 10 trip tickets for travel on any of our routes,” said Chairman of the MMVTA Board of Directors Dr. Harry Miale.
For more information on the “Get an INTERVIEW. Get a RIDE. Get the JOB. Get 10 trips on US.” campaign or to enroll for your free bus fare visit www.mmvta.com or call 724-489-0880.
